Gov. Polis appoints Jefferson County Court Judge

DENVER — Gov. Jared Polis today announced the appointment of Sara M. Garrido as a Jefferson County Court Judge in the First Judicial District. Her appointment is occasioned by the resignation of the Honorable Jean Woodford.

Garrido has been a solo practitioner in Lakewood since 2012. The majority of her practice consists of criminal defense and dependency and neglect cases. She is frequently appointed as a guardian ad litem in juvenile court. Previously, she worked as a public defender in the Golden office from 2001 to 2012. Garrido earned her B.A. from the University of Miami in 1993 and her J.D. from the University of Colorado in 2001.

Garrido’s appointment is effective April 4, 2020.
